The Kai Wai Tiki Rum Party is the first Modernism Week event to ever be held here.

As you enter from the Belardo Road gates, behind the Hyatt Hotel, you will be greeted with a lei and presented a commemorative tiki mug ready-to-go for our complimentary signature tiki cocktail. Well also be serving up delicious island-inspired appetizers.

This party will feature island music and a 44 foot outrigger canoe. You will also get to enjoy an exhibition of:

Authentic tiki carvings by Tongan carver Tualau Tauheluhelu.

Tapa on traditional format (bark cloth) and their modern interpretation on quilts. The tapa designs are from across the Pacific including Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti and Hawaii.

A photo exhibition of Polynesian-influenced midcentury architecture found around Palm Springs and Southern California.

The evening will culminate with the beautiful presentation of Hawaiian hula dancing.

The Salton Sea is disappearing. This event and exhibition is organized byKai Wai, a divisionSEAthletes, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Kai Wais mission is to engage the next generation. The young people at the Salton Sea today will be the future stewards who will be preserving the diversity and wonder of the sea. The proceeds from this event will go toward the Kai Wai Keiki (kids) sponsorship program that allows every kid the opportunity to recreate on the Salton Sea. Sponsoring a local keiki for a whole year can make a lasting impact in a childs life. Theres no better way to spread the aloha spirit.
