One of two Palm Springs projects designed by noted Architect Barry Berkus, the thirty homes that comprise Park Imperial South have been carefully and methodically restored by the homeowners over the past decade in many exciting and unique ways. Many of the units on this years tour feature original appliances along with a range of authentic modern and contemporary furnishings. Park Imperial South is particularly proud to have been designated as a Class One Historic District of Palm Springs. Designed as a Living Resort in 1960, the unique architecture was then, and remains today, an innovative approach to modern desert leisure living. You will tour up to ten homes. Each of the 1,400 square foot homes demonstrates cutting edge midcentury architecture: distinctive folded plate roofs, sculptural concrete block walls and walls of floor-to-ceiling glass, Shoji screens, terrazzo floors, private courtyards and signature kitchen islands with angular range hoods.
There will be a cocktail reception featuring wine, beer and sparkling spring water along with appetizers directly following the last tour, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. All tour participants are welcome. Funds from this years tour will go toward preserving and improving the common spaces of this architectural masterwork.
