Get out your backpacks and strap on your hiking boots for an adventurous home tour to the rustic outposts of Pioneertown, Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree. Discover the breath-taking, lunar-like landscape, gnarly Joshua Trees and homes that have been built in this otherworldly environment on this self-driving tour. Explore 8+ properties now home to a bohemian crowd of urban refugees lured by the mystique of the High Desert.
Wide-open spaces meet living spaces in this architectural Desert Trip. Tour the exteriors and interiors of homesteads, ranches, prefabs and midcentury modern-inspired contemporary architecture of this legendary, modern-day, Wild West frontier.
Hiking through sand is part of the experience, many of the roads are unpaved, and parking at the homes is very limited, so please consider carpooling and bring plenty of water.
Our tour ends in Joshua Tree with bar beverages and snacks.
The Palm Springs Modern Committee (PS ModCom) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation and preservation of Desert Modern architecture and design. We accomplish this through education, advocacy for threatened buildings, promotion of heritage tourism and the celebration of successes in preservation and adaptive reuse. For more information, please visitwww.psmodcom.org.
