While modern architecture and design was flourishing, so was a more minimalist approach to landscaping. Come learn about the horticultural pioneers who dreamt of a more harmonious interaction between landscape and architecture. Hear stories from their plant hunting adventures, learn about the plants they introduced and the designs they helped inspire.

This is a great opportunity for those attending, that also hold tickets to the afternoons Modern Garden Tour Palm Springs, to learn more about the plants that they are likely to encounter on the tour later that day. At the end of the tour, meet up with the presenter, Wendy Proud, at the cocktail reception.

Wendy Proud, California Sales Representative for Mountain States Wholesale Nursery, holds a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and has 30 years of sales and production experience in the retail and wholesale nursery business. While living in the Los Angeles area, Wendy enjoyed working as a Grower and New Plants Manager for Monrovia Growers producing and promoting unique varieties. She also co-owned and operated a landscape design and installation company, Proud Murphy, Inc. providing specialized maintenance programs, horticultural coaching and promoted proper plant selection, placement and organic gardening practices.

Throughout her career Wendy has provided numerous plant presentations and interviews for various organizations and groups. She is also a past president of the Los Angeles chapter of the California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers, which provides scholarships to students pursuing careers in the horticulture field. Wendy has a particular interest in less thirsty plant material including those from desert and Mediterranean regions, as well as California natives.
