Author Sam Lubell and photographer Darren Bradley will be in conversation with Alan Hess, architect, author and advocate for architectural preservation.

Mid-Century Modern Architecture Travel Guide: West Coast USA, written by Sam Lubell, features photographs by leading architectural photographer Darren Bradley. The color-coded chapters include over 250 entries from the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and San Diego. And while there are many celebrated buildings by the likes of Charles & Ray Eames, Rudolph Schindler and John Lautner, there are also many treasures by lesser-known architects that are equally worthy of recognition. Each section features maps to help guide readers to the many sites.

In the book, Lubell identifies previously unknown examples of Midcentury Modern architecture and provides details on where to best view them. Throughout the conversation, Lubell and Bradley will discuss how they found little known, awe-inspiring pieces of architecture along the West Coast. They will describe the challenges of photographing and writing about buildings where little to no information existed. Theyll also touch on how a building's inclusion in the book could change its secret status.

A book signing will follow the discussion.
