Midcentury Parking Lotsis a photographic book based on a selection of parking lots throughout Palm Springs whose common attribution is that each one belongs to an iconic midcentury modern building. Initially inspired by artist Edward Ruschas seminal 1967 bookThirty-Four Parking Lotsboth in concept and typographic presentation, Dan Chavkin thoughtfully captures the architectural qualities inherent in a commercial parking lots design. Without direct reference to the architecture itself, captions accompany each photograph stating both the buildings name and its address and are presented in a zine format, a noncommercial, often homemade or online publication, usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subject matter.

Ages 12 and older.
