DESCRIPTION
Ship of the Desert, Architects Earl Webster and Adrian WilsonBuilt in 1936 the house was christened "Ship of the Desert" by artist Millard Sheets in the 1937 cover story for Sunset Magazine, calling it "one of the most interesting new homes in the west".
Painstakingly restored to its original 1936 glory by current owners Trina Turk and Jonathan Skow, "The Ship of the Desert" is a stunning example of the Streamline Moderne style. Gently curving walls, decks, and railings evoke the feeling that the house is pushing off its foundation and heading to sea. Each room has exceptional views of both the city and the mountains.
