Without a doubt, we are getting ready for one of the most exciting events to hit the Treasure Coast of Florida in years and it’s all for a good cause! The Stuart Sailfish Regatta is transforming the normally serene Stuart Causeway into a scene for speed on the water April 13-15, 2012 with the competition, the victory and adrenaline-pumping sport of powerboat racing. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the USS Sailing Center, the Children’s Museum and the Maritime Museum.
Did you know that…
- - Thousands are expected to attend from around the state of Florida?
- - Top-tier racers are competing from throughout the United States?
- - This is an American Power Boat Association sanctioned event?
- - These tricked-out boats reach speeds of more than 100 mph?
- - The weekend of festivities features more than just the hydroplane races?
The Stuart Sailfish Regatta powerboat races are reminiscent of the Sertoma Races that once took place at the Jensen Beach Causeway. Hydroplane racing is very much like NASCAR but on water and much more entertaining. Tricked-out superboats reach unbelievable speeds that require precise planning and course execution by their drivers.
The Stuart Sailfish Regatta is dedicated to the responsible use of our precious waterways and to the possibility that boats and particularly power boats can use our waterways without causing undue stress to the life forms associated with them. Join the Regatta in heightening awareness and in keeping our waterways clean and pristine so that they may be enjoyed by all for many generations to come!
