This extravagant estate was designed by architect James McNaughton and built for George R. Hearst, the eldest son of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst and his wife Rosalie in 1962. The home features the architects' signature Hollywood Regency and Neoclassical style and many attributes associated with the remarkable family home Hearst Castle. The residence also provided a temporary shelter for their niece Patricia Hearst, who came to Palm Springs to recover after being taken hostage by the Symbionese Liberation Army for 19 months in 1974.
The evening's guest of honor is renowned American artist and furniture designer Charles Hollis Jones, known internationally for his extensive use of acrylic and Lucite.
Enjoy cocktails and canaps with Charles and friends around the magnificent pool that emulates the Castle's famed Neptune pool, and tour the fabulous estate, newly restored and refurbished by Anthony Cochran Design and Stoker Construction.
The Palm Springs Modern Committee (PS ModCom) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation and preservation of Desert Modern architecture and design.
We accomplish this through education, advocacy for threatened buildings and promotion of heritage tourism.
